About Us

Cove Behavioral Health has proudly served Hillsborough, Polk and surrounding counties over the past 50 years. Through our programs we treat mental health and substance abuse issues, with the mission of supporting our community’s overall wellness by providing accessible and compassionate behavioral health care.

Here at Cove, we see behavioral wellness as an ongoing effort and recognize that at different stages of life’s journey we all need various degrees of support. By providing a full array of services, we have established ourselves as a behavioral health home for our community so that we can be accessed for the type of support that suits your individual needs. From outreach and education, prevention and intervention, outpatient to residential treatment and after care we are your safe harbor.

Our History

In 1973 we were incorporated as the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office (DACCO) through the leadership of representatives from the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, the Chamber of Commerce, United Way and other organizations in Tampa, Florida. We initially provided drug abuse planning, coordination and monitoring for local governmental units. However, in 1975, we received funding to provide drug treatment. Over the next 40 years we then expanded into the county’s largest comprehensive community-based substance abuse disorder service provider, reaching over 25,000 persons annually through prevention and treatment. In 2008, we built our three-story state-of-the-art Center for Behavioral Health in Tampa, Florida and in 2015 we expanded from Hillsborough to Polk county.
